  • What does it cost for a unit?

    Government subsidies are not available for assisted living residences.


  • Can I bring my own furniture?

    Yes, you provide your own furniture. You may choose items from your home you are moving from or purchase furniture that fits in well to your new suite. You are encouraged to furnish your suite in ways that creates comfort and wellbeing for you.

  • Can I get help moving in?

    You need to arrange for your move into the Ashbourne and when your move in date and time has been arranged we can reserve one of our elevators for your personal use during the period you need.

  • What kind of nursing support is there for residents?

    Homecare support is available for residents who are assessed as needing support by Continuing Care Access (780) 496-1300. Homecare support might be assistance with medications, laundry, bathing, dressing, etc. Our homecare support workers provide a consistent comforting presence as they meet your daily needs. 

    There is a Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN) on site 24/7 who responds to any medical emergencies and for any medical assessment.

  • What about security?

    Security is of prime importance. Entry to the Ashbourne for residents and visitors is through the main door.

    Residents use their “swipe card” and visitors use the intercom system located at the front entrance. All residents are advised to keep the doors to their suite locked at all times and encouraged to keep valuables in a locked container or personal safe in their suite. Residents and visitors are asked to use the main door to exit or enter the building.

  • What are the rental terms? Can I come for a week, a month, a season?

    As with any rental arrangement you enter into a lease which at the Ashbourne is on a month to month basis. A damage deposit and first month’s rent is also required. 

    It is not possible to come for a week or month but it is possible to come for a meal or two and try our dining room and menu.

  • What happens to my rental agreement if I suddenly have to go to hospital?

    stay and your suite is held till you are able to return to the Ashbourne. If your health problems necessitate a move to a Long Term Care facility, a 30-day month-end notice is not required.

    The damage deposit will be used to cover any excessive damage to, and cleaning of the suite. After inspection of the suite, and if there are no damages, the damage deposit will be returned.

  • What about my family doctor?

    You maintain your own family doctor. There is no doctor on call at the Ashbourne but in case of an

    emergency 911 is called. The emergency department of the University of Alberta hospital is very close by.

  • What is the food like?

    All our food is prepared daily on site in our kitchen by our chef and staff. They are balanced, nutritious and delicious and approved by a registered dietitian.
